The BAAD Review
The BAAD Review is a bi-annual publication. It is designed for the clinician or holistic healer who wants to broaden their cultural worldview and increase or include an Afro-centric sensibility regarding health. The BAAD Review encourages its writers and readers to be passionate about deepening their personal interactions and professional clinical competencies with a better understanding of racial, ethnic, and cultural dynamics. Each issue will feature articles about personal development, clinical theories and applications from an Afro-centric perspective, as well as, artistic, socio-political, or spiritual expressions from the African, African-American, and Afro-Latino communities. Article submissions are welcome, particularly thesis and dissertation excerpts that explore the experience of the Black student and/or Black client in therapy; the non-Black person’s exploration of working with Black co-workers, classmates, or clients; and/or encountering artistry or sociopolitical commentary in the Black community.
We welcome feedback and encourage you to post your questions/concerns/comments on the BAAD Blog. You can also email the editor, privately, at [email protected] for an in-depth clinical concern if you seek culturally competent guidance with African, Black American, or Afro-Latino clients, classmates, or co-workers. As the Founder and President of BAAD and the Editor of The BAAD Review, I wish you happy reading! Sincerely, Lysa Monique Jenkins-Hayden
